The VidPhone® System allows people to communicate visually with uncompressed, full-motion video over existing telephone wiring. The VidPhone® System integrates in one solution delivery of multipoint videoconferencing, broadcast of satellite or cable TV, and access and retrieval of stored video to desktops and meeting rooms.

The revolutionary Station Adapter Module-1ä technology eliminates the need to rewire every desktop or meeting room for a new video network, or rely on already overloaded Local Area Networks (LANs). It breaks through long-standing barriers to widespread usage of video communications by delivering television-quality video, stereo audio, and data – all using the existing telephone infrastructure.

The VidPhone® System is compatible with digital, analog, or ISDN PBX, Centrex, or Key telephone system. The VidPhone® System complies with H.320 video communications standards for the wide area network (WAN) and interoperates with any other H.320 videoconferencing system.

The VidPhone® System is a fully integrated video communications solution that provides centralized management, installation, and administration of video, audio, and data resources. At the center of the system is the VidPhone® Switch. VidPhone® Stations, or end user access points, are connected to the Switch and can be set up anywhere there is access to a telephone jack. Option cards for the VidPhone® Switch allow for the addition of end-users, audio/video input sources, and multipoint videoconferencing capabilities. The Gateways add interfaces to communicate across the Wide Area Network (WAN) telecommunication lines using ATM or ISDN technology.
