PictureTel Network Systems enhance PictureTel's Group, Compact and Desktop Videoconferencing Systems by enabling users to conduct video meetings with three or more videoconferencing sites. Customers can choose from a range of models that support everything from "on-demand" conferencing and premise switching to large, distributed networks. Like all PictureTel products, PictureTel Network Systems support industry standards and offer options to suit a wide array of applications. This exemplifies PictureTel's commitment to deliver the highest quality videoconferencing solutions.
PictureTel Prism brings new levels of reliability and ease of use to multipoint conferencing, while setting a new standard in price/performance. With Prism, users of videoconferencing systems can make spontaneous multipoint calls using their own dedicated Multipoint Conferencing Server (MCS).
Prism is housed in a compact unit that can be located anywhere in the office environment. It's delivered preconfigured to enable users to set up their own multipoint calls without technical assistance. This minimizes the opportunity for error in call setup, making Prism a highly reliable solution.
Prism offers two ways to control a multipoint conference: voice-activated or chair control. In a voice-activated conference, Prism automatically displays whichever person is speaking on the screens of all conference participants. To facilitate more formal conferences, participants can select chair control mode. This allows any user to determine which site is being viewed by all participants regardless of who is speaking.
For customers who want the ability to view all other meeting participants simultaneously, Prism offers a continuous presence option. This option lets each conference party see the other four sites on their screen and hear the audio from all locations. Like all PictureTel products, Prism is available internationally.
Personal Bridging
As a "personal bridge", Prism gives users the flexibility to make multipoint video calls on demand. Its compact size and affordability make it a practical solution for any organization. Since Prism is not an enterprise-wide shared resource, users can make multipoint calls at any time, therefore eliminating dependency on a centrally managed multipoint bridge.
