LiveGateway
Visual collaboration over your enterprise local area network (LAN) and corporate intranet is possible with PictureTel's H.323 standards-compliant videoconferencing product family. The LAN/Intranet product family includes LiveLAN™, the endpoint or client videoconferencing station; LiveManager™, software for bandwidth control and conference management; LiveGateway™, which provides bi-directional interoperability with H.320 standards-based videoconferencing products; and PictureTel 330™, multipoint conferencing software for visual and data collaboration over corporate LANs, intranets, and the Internet.
You'll increase productivity and customer service without devoting more resources. You'll exchange and edit documents like spreadsheets, presentations, and contracts in real time using PictureTel's award-winning T.120-compliant LiveShare Plus™ data collaboration technology. PictureTel's LiveShare Plus is interoperable with Microsoft's NetMeeting®.
By operating on top of existing TCP/IP protocols, LiveLAN packets can be routed without any modifications to your existing network infrastructure. And, through LiveManager, you can monitor and control the amount of bandwidth used for LiveLAN calls throughout your network on a segment-by-segment basis.
LiveGateway, which is compliant with the H.323 Gateway specifications, is a Windows NT workstation or server add-on kit that provides LiveLAN as well as other H.323-compliant clients access to H.320-compliant systems and other LiveLAN clients across an Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN) WAN. LiveGateway includes a board and a server application installed on the server and a LiveGateway Console integrated within and managed through LiveManager via SNMP. Through this Console, a LAN administrator can test, trouble-shoot, and configure the ISDN network characteristics of the LiveGateway(s) installed throughout the network.
LiveGateway lets LiveLAN users place calls to and receive calls from H.320-compliant desktop and group systems such as PictureTel's Live200™ desktop system, SwiftSite™, Venue 2000™ and Concorde 4500™ group systems as well as other vendors' H.320-compliant systems. Through LiveGateway, LiveLAN users can even call an H.320 MCU, such as PictureTel's Montage™ and Prism™, and participate in an H.320 continuous presence multipoint conference.
Using a single ISA/EISA card, LiveGateway installs into any Windows NT 4.0 TCP/IP workstation or server. You can install up to four gateway cards per platform. With LiveGateway installed and connected to your ISDN network, LiveLAN users as well as other H.323-compliant users can directly dial the ISDN video number of any H.320 system using LiveLAN's dial pad. In turn, H.320 users outside the LAN can call LiveLAN users by using DTMF dialing or via an operator station. LiveGateway also gives LiveLAN users at different sites the ability to call each other across ISDN. This is ideal when the routed link between the sites is slow or crowded.
